5 Bells - 10-1-20 in G#- (818.5 Hz) https://dove.cccbr.org.uk/tower/12923 Here's another set of call changes, to which there were a lot of through the day. I thought I'd take the opportunity to showcase the interesting surroundings of this church. The adjacent house is apparently up for sale for £1,000,000 and is the perfect place to live if you're interested in both bell ringing and railways. Both the church and the house are accessed by crossing over the aptly named Church Lane level crossing, which is on the very busy Great Eastern Mainline, from London Liverpool Street to Ipswich and Norwich. The sound of passing trains can also be heard very clearly from inside the church. The graveyard is situated behind the church and looks out towards the neighbouring fields. The wooden tower is not only home to a bat, but also a nest of bees, one of which can be seen flying past the camera. Because of its location, the church is what is known as a 'festival church', meaning services only happen at certain times throughout the year. From a ringer's point of view, this isolated location is great, as it means we can ring things like quarter peals, for however long we want, without getting complaints from neighbours. The bells are also relatively quiet outside, too.
