Inspired by the enigmatic celestial body known as Planet 9, the piece is a collaboration between renowned conductor Eduardo Marturet, the Miami Symphony Orchestra and G100 Visionary electric guitarist Konstantin Batygin. Batygin, not only a great guitarist, but also an internationally reknowned astronomer, discovered Planet 9, adding an extra layer of significance to this musical endeavor. His expertise and passion for exploring the cosmos infused the composition with a sense of wonder and curiosity. Batygin's electric guitar adds a contemporary edge to the composition, blending seamlessly with the orchestral arrangement to create a rich tapestry of sound. His contributions serve as a reminder of the boundless creativity and innovation that emerge when different disciplines intersect. The world premiere of Planet 9 Op.3, which took place in Miami in 2021, holds special significance as it coincided with the inauguration of the newest Genius 100 Visionary, Astronaut Soichi Noguchi. Noguchi's presence, even from the International Space Station, adds a cosmic dimension to the event, highlighting the universality of human creativity and exploration. Maestro Marturet was part of a historic event that took place on Sunday, Mar. 14, Einstein’s birthday, when Astronaut Dr. Soichi Noguchi (JAXA, Japan Exploration Agency) was inducted as a Genius 100 Visionary. During this historic event he composed Planet 9, exclusively to be performed in space to celebrate Noguchi's birthday, together with many other Genius 100 Visionaries took part in this once-in-a-lifetime experience. In Planet 9, Maestro Marturet invites listeners to contemplate the mysteries of the cosmos while celebrating the power of music and the boundless potential of human imagination. It is a fitting tribute to the relentless pursuit of knowledge and the awe-inspiring beauty of the universe.
