Prevention is now central to every conversation about the future of public services, but without a clear picture of current investment, it is difficult to know the scale of change required. CIPFA’s report Understanding preventative investment: a practical approach to map and measure spend which launched in October 2025 offers a practical way to understand prevention spend across the building blocks of health. This webinar will outline how public sector organisations can use the approach to understand their own prevention spend and highlight why this matters for public financial management and the sustainability of public services. We will share key learnings from the report and discuss future plans to expand the approach through a community of practice and further exploration decision-making and evaluation of preventative investment.
