While at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, I landed an extended video interview with Elisabeth Moss. She was in town to promote two upcoming films - Ben Wheatley‘s High Rise and James Vanderbilt’s Truth - that couldn’t be more different. In High-Rise, adapted from a J.G. Ballard novel, Moss plays the very pregnant wife of Luke Evans and her character exists in a very chaotic world filled with drugs, booze and sex. There’s quite a bit less of such indulgences in Truth, based on Mary Mapes‘ book, Truth and Duty, which covers the scandal that erupted when Dan Rather, played in the film by Robert Redford, and producer Mapes (Cate Blanchett) aired a segment about George W. Bush’s time in the United States National Guard during the Vietnam War on 60 Minutes II. Moss takes on the role of Lucy Scott, a CBS journalist enlisted by Mapes during the scandal. During the interview, Moss talked about being involved in both projects, what it was like making both films, what it’s like now that she’s wrapped on Mad Men, plays some “Save or Kill”, and a lot more. Watch what she had to say below and further down the page are the synopses for both films.
