In this webinar Michael Harding from the IOSH Construction Committee Group speaks with Peter Wilson, Technical Director at the Industrial Noise & Vibration Centre on the important topic of HAVS. The high level of risk from hand-arm vibration (HAVS) in the global construction industry is often associated with a host of costly technical misunderstandings and myths. This has generated a minefield of opportunities to waste time and resources on ineffective actions. For example, did you know that: • most vibration measurements are unnecessary placebo checkbox exercises, but there are alternatives to this marketing myth… • “anti-vibration glove” is an oxymoron, there is no PPE for HAVS • you need an effective buy/hire smooth policy • personal behaviour has a huge effect on individual risk, so change must be encouraged This webinar dispels the myths and provides a 6-element best practice action checklist that can be used to evaluate where improvements to HAVS risk management can be made to minimise damage to health. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Find out more about IOSH, becoming a member and our training and skills: https://IOSH.com Stay up to date with the latest IOSH news, inspiring stories, events, courses and more: 👉 LinkedIn: / iosh 👉 Facebook: / ioshofficial 👉 Twitter: / iosh_tweets 👉 Instagram: / ioshofficial Find out more about our industry-specific groups and local networks: https://iosh.com/health-and-safety-pr...
