'Syrian Government House' - Creepy Abandoned Building On Syria - Israel Border | Borders of Israel

Located on Israel's border with the DMZ that separates it from Syria is a building labelled on the map as 'Syrian Government House.' The building was constructed in 1962 as a military command center for the Syrian Army and its intelligent apparatus in the Golan Heights (complete with torture chambers!) The building ended up playing an important role in the Six Day War of 1967 - with Israel successively bombing the structure before capturing it and gaining intelligence from military documents stored there. The site is also part of the Eli Cohen Golan Trail and was visited by the famous Mossad agent when he visited the site in order to obtain a permit to visit the then Syrian-held Golan.
