Testing a mystery sapphire with unusual inclusions / Gemology

This gem arrived with no label and a meaningless note, so I decided to test it blind. It’s thin and initially looked like a basaltic sapphire, but the inclusions are unlike anything I’ve seen before. Under the polariscope, it behaves oddly but shows a strong uniaxial optic axis. It’s anisotropic and slightly pleochroic. Refractive index: 1.769-1.761, birefringence 0.008, all consistent with corundum. Specific gravity confirms it too. Under magnification, I see exploded and melted-looking inclusions, signs of heavy heating, not synthetic growth. So, this is my most heated loose sapphire yet.
