The estoinian lace patterns are always in a special place in my heart. And in this year, I have a big plans with them (more infos come soon). Until then here it is the tutorial one of the most beautiful estonian pattern, Silvia. It’s a very complex pattern, with nupps, and gathered stitches. And yes, this makes it very complicated. But if you ready give up some tradition, you can knit it easier. Popcorn stitch instead nupps, and crochet hook for the gathered stitches. That’s my secret, and no you can see them in this video! Let’s knit! --General infos--------- You can download the chart here: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/fo... The chart is the traditon Silvia pattern with nupps, but you can replace them with popcorn stitch, bobble stitch, even beads, etc. In the video I knit 2 knit stiches in the begining, and two in the end of the rows. These are just edge stitches, not necessary, it’s just easier for me to show you the pattern. (nor the chart nor the subtitles mention it) The wrong sides always just purls, so this sections are shortened in the video. The right sides are in real time, instead the 17 and 19 rows, because in this two rows you just knit all the stitches, nothing complicated happens in them. (and the video is already far too long) In the video I’m using Alize Bella with size 3 needles. Traditionally the estonian lace patterns are knitted from lace weight yarns, but you can see better what I do with this thicker yarn. All your questions are welcomed! --Abbreviation--------- RS: right side WS: wrong side st(s): stitch(es) sl: slip k: knit p: purl ssk: slip, slip, knit k2tog: knit two together yo: yarn pver sl2 k1 psso: slip two knitwise, knit one, pass slipped stiches over pcs: popcorn stitch kf, kb, kf, kb, kf: knit the front loop then back loop, then front loop, then back loop, then front loop.
