In this week’s landscape photography video, I’m fortunate enough to be invited by the incredibly talented landscape photographer Wendy Klein to a location she holds close to her chest. While many photographers are happy to share their favourite spots, sometimes a little discretion is necessary—particularly when the shoreline is delicate and vulnerable to damage. This is one of those places, a hidden gem where careful stewardship is key to preserving its natural beauty. Wendy’s generosity in sharing this secret location is a rare privilege, and I couldn’t wait to see what it had in store for us. Setting out pre-dawn along the banks of Wyaralong Dam, we quickly realised we might be in for a treat. A delicate mist drifted across the water’s surface, and the high cloud gave us hope that it would catch the soft hues of morning light. The odds weren’t entirely in our favour, though, with a sizeable hill blocking the sun’s first rays. Yet, fortune smiled upon us, and we watched as the sky cycled through a mesmerising palette of magenta, gold, and blue. We made the most of the tranquil scene, capturing some truly beautiful images—a reminder that some locations aren’t just worth keeping secret but are genuinely special.
