Roads are closed to public traffic as tubular barricades and hay bales cut and line the unique race. It runs through Palermo, Sicily. This is the 49th Targa Florio run on May 9th 1965. Nino Vaccarella and the Ferrari 275 PZ would take the win. Nino won again in 1971 and 1975. It is a Castrol film (:33). The British oil company was founded in 1899. Roadways cut up by former racers are pictured (:59). An Italian sign beckons sports fan to witness the event (1:04). The Naples ferry sits in the Palermo harbor five days prior to the races start (1:18). Top contenders arrive. A Fiat Abarth is lowered to the ground (1:20). A Sicilian cop stands by (1:30).
