Long by name, long by nature. Long Melford in Suffolk is a beautiful English village with a long and special history. In the late Middle Ages, Long Melford grew as a “wool town” – that is a place that grew and prospered with the wool industry connecting the East of England with the Netherlands cloth trade. Holy Trinity church is a fine example of a “wool church” – much grander than you’d expect a parish church to be for a settlement of this size, thanks to the support of local wealthy landowners at the time. But the real uniqueness of the place is the continuous unspoilt historic beauty of the homes, shops, pubs and restaurants lining both sides of the main street. Just sit back and enjoy as we walk through!
