Hi guys! This world is not my home is one of my absolute favourite southern Gospel greats!! I first heard it on Bill and Gloria Gaither's 30 Favorite Homecoming Hymns album and it literally just lifted me!! It's a song that when I'm going through tough times, or I feel despondent about the world we live in, constantly reminds me that my hope is in heaven and this life is but a vapour (James 4:14) when compared with the eternal weight of Glory we have waiting for us! Hallelujah!! I really hope my cover of this wonderful hymn you all too so let me know what you think below? If you enjoy this video then please LIKE it, SHARE it with anyone you think it might bless too & don't forget to SUBSCRIBE! Chorus O Lord, You know, I have no friend like You. If heaven's not my home, then Lord, what will I do; The angels beckon me from heaven's open door, And I can't feel at home in this world anymore. Verse 2 They're all expecting me and that's one thing I know, I fixed it up with Jesus a long, long time ago; I know He'll take me thru tho I am weak and poor, And I can't feel at home in this world anymore. Verse 3 Just up in glory land, we'll live eternally, The saints on every hand are shouting victory, Their songs of sweetest praise drift back from heaven's shore, And I can't feel at home in this world anymore. Words: Unknown Arrangement: This gospel hymn has been around about 100 years. Evidently it started out as part of the black gospel tradition. It was recorded in 1924 by Stovepipe No 1 (Sam Jones) under the title "Lord Don't You Know, I Have No Friend Like You." It quickly crossed over into country music and was recorded by The Carter Family in 1931, J.E. Mainer's Mountainers in 1935, and the Monroe Brothers in 1936. Since then it has become a standard in bluegrass, country, and southern gospel. It is most often attributed to Albert. E. Brumley in 1937 but as earlier recordings exist this is most likely just another arrangement.
