Lu You and Tang Wan |《陆游与唐琬》 Lu You, a great poet of the Southern Song Dynasty, together with his beloved wife Tang Wan, traveled to Shenyuan Garden in the spring and befriended loyal and righteous people they met during the journey. However, Lu You’s mother blamed Tang Wan for her son’s journey far away from home and forced Lu You to divorce his wife. During his revisit to Shenyuan Garden after returning from Fujian, Lu You met Tang Wan but could not talk with her. Out of extreme regret and sorrow, he wrote “Phoenix Hairpin” in Shenyuan Garden to memorize his deep love to Tang Wan.
