Hotel Tour of the La Quinta Inn and Suites, Silverthorne, CO

Believe it or not, this is my first actual video of 2016. Despite some things I said in the video, I am not going to edit this. So the hotel was a fairly average hotel, but nicer than many of the other old 2-story dumps in Silverthorne. This was also the tallest hotel in Silverthorne with 7 floors total. As for the quality of the hotel, I'd say there are a few things that could be changed. Like how you treat guests trying to do a reivew of your facility. That's right, I got stopped by two maintenance workers (not security guards, but maintenance men), if you want to read about that, scroll to the bottom of the description. As for the rest of the hotel, I think the place is in average condition. The elevators were a little small, but fast for hydraulic elevators. The hotel room was a very amazing two-story loft suite, which is very rare in 2-star hotels (and a YouTube first)! The view was great and the two queen beds were nice, however, as usual the couch bed was a killer, I really hate sleeping on those most of the time. Besides 3 beds, the room has a microwave and fridge and two TV's, (one upstairs, one downstairs). There was definitely plenty of mirrors and storage areas as well. The bathroom was slightly cramped in my opinion with the sink being outside the the small room with the toilet and shower. The only thing I have to say that I really didn't like in the room was the spiral staircase to get up to the 7th floor loft. It was quite tight and for anyone who is overweight or is disabled may have a hard time getting up that staircase. Otherwise, I think the hotel is a very nice facility and I could give it a rating or 7/10. The elevator specifications and my "busted" story can be found below. Now here's my security (maintenance worker) encounter story. You all saw in the video how they walked up to me and shouted hey and asked me what I was doing. As far as I recorded was when I told them I was doing a hotel tour. If I hadn't cared if my video was more than 16 minutes long, I would've recorded the conversation as much as possible. So after I put the camera away I asked them if they had a problem with what I was doing and they said yes. I asked them why and they said it was because I was taking pictures of things that would make the hotel look trashy. You should all know, my intent is never to make hotels look trashy, but since the maintenance men pointed it out, I'll tell you what they didn't like. Apparently, they thought I was taking pictures of the trash when I pointed the camera down to avoid their faces and they thought the fire alarm control panel (the blinky thing as they called it) was ugly. I told them that I film the tours for personal reasons and have no intent to make the hotel look trashy. I said I upload videos to YouTube and what one of them said after that really irritated me. They told me that I couldn't upload any footage of the hotel, so at this point I had to tell them that it was my first amendment right to review my accommodations and that if they wanted me to leave the lobby that was fine, but they could not stop me from filming in the room. So they asked me for the room number (which was 643 by the way) and after they found out I was a guest they told me that they were sorry for stopping me and that the trash is not avoidable all the time, so I could continue filming anywhere in hotel that I wanted to. I just went up to the room after that and that's basically the whole story. They argued with me for 20 minutes complaining about how I should only view "beautiful things". It worked out in the end though.
