Daniel Prude death: Demonstrators in Rochester, N.Y. protest at city hall

Over a thousand protesters gathered by the Daniel Prude memorial in Rochester, N.Y., where they marched and chanted “Black Lives Matter” on Sept. 5. The demonstrators held a rally at city hall where they chanted Daniel Prude’s name and called for charging the officers involved in Prude’s death. Prude, a Black man, died earlier this year after Rochester police placed a hood over his head and held him down. Video of Prude's arrest released last week shows the officers covering Prude’s head with a “spit hood” designed to protect police from bodily fluids, after he complied with being handcuffed, then pressing his face into the pavement for two minutes. Prude, 41, was naked at the time of his arrest on the light-snowy day in March. He died a week later after he was taken off life support. The demonstration comes as New York’s Attorney General Letitia James on Saturday moved to form a grand jury to investigate the death of Prude.
