I wouldn't be the best baler driver out there but oh well.....here's a video anyway. This baler replaced the 3+ I was driving in previous videos. I think the reel is nigh-on unblockable now at this stage. It's almost self-propelled spec to take in grass and having a wider reel than the old baler, the bales tend to come out with squarer edges. This is on wider tyres than the 3+ was so it's probably a little steadier on side-leans. There's a few small improvements here and there like the chain oil tank is bigger and the cut and hold manual control on the spool block now has a tap on it so you can lock them open if you need to for maintainance. There's probably more small changes like that I can't remember but they're not major differences. The exterior control panel to control the wrapper has more functions on it. You can start the wrapping cycle from there now but I never really used that feature to be honest. I usually stop and change the plastic as soon as they run out so after I change them I can continue baling while the bale finishes wrapping. That way I'm not sitting waiting for it to wrap, then tip off, then eject the bale out of the chamber. Just my theory.... You can program two buttons on that control panel to another service. This one was on the baler door. So you can operate the door from there now if need be.... The pickup reel lifts higher off the ground than the old baler. A camless fusion 3 does not lift the reel very high compared to a cam track fusion 3 apparantly so I am told, so the fusion 4 camless reel will probably lift to a similar height as a fusion 3 cam reel. The old baler was 1000 speed camless as well just like this new baler. I'm not such a fan of the new control box. They removed all the physical buttons and now you have to use the touchscreen. Sometimes when I press the tip bale off button it'll make the noise but not do anything and then a few seconds go by until you realise the bale is still on the wrapper. Press it a second time and it'll do another noise and work that time. I just push the button twice now after that happened a few times 🙄. There's no big red emergency stop button like the old box. That saved me from 2 would-be feck-ups before. Maybe the ISB button on the bottom corner of the new screen does that job now I don't know, someone could tell me if you know? Also when viewing the camera page on the new screen the buttons to control some features disappear. On the old baler you could open or close the door manually while watching it on the camera, now you have to go to the controls page and do your manual controls but can't see what's happening on the camera at the same time. Maybe you can change this around with settings but I never looked, I never got the time as I was only driving it here and there really, not every day. There is no receipt printer with the new screen. There is no hour clock on the new screen I don't think so it can't work out bale per hour or anything like that. Didn't bother me but it's just something the old one had that the new one doesn't.... The one good thing I like about it was the beeps are not as severe and high pitched as the old type box. You could adjust the volume on both control boxes I know, but the fusion 4 is more tolerable to listen to I think but you know....small fish....not too important.... Ah there's a few bits and pieces but like they're just annoyances really. I think maybe 3 oil leaks over the course of the season and the odd loose bolt here and there is the only trouble it had. The main spool block was still leaking by the end of the season, every slice on the block leaked where the lever goes on I think. The wrapper leaked. It lost like one full back end's worth of oil over the season. But for all it's problems, it is by far the easiest to use, tidiest, fastest combi baler available and once the few minor things would be sorted out, it should be reliable because a fusion is a well-proven machine at this stage. I'm gone back to Ireland now, I decided to skip the maize and come home early to do some maintenance on my own gear so that I'll be as ready as I can possibly be for the summer ahead. I've said before a few times now that I would start doing talking in the videos but every time I turn the camera on to record a bit I end up not knowing what to say so I'm going to forget about that idea for a while yet. I'm not looking to be a youtube-farm-blogger-vlogger type character at all, I just like making these videos for myself really. I look back on my older videos every now and then to see what way have things changed since then and in the winter they are nice to look at when the weather would be pretty miserable otherwise... I think if I started talking in the videos I wouldn't want to watch them myself anymore because who would want to watch a video of themselves talking....I'm in two minds about what will I do. Anyway, I've run out of space in the description so I've to stop here. More vids soon
