[00:00] - Watch the transformation of a blank piece of Arches Huile paper measuring 20 x 20 cms into a realistic oil study! This is the fifth and final of my 'February Focus on Fruit Still Life' paintings. In this video, I share a time-lapse process of my latest still life painting of half a lemon and a lime on a blue cloth. This study focuses on capturing vibrant colour, light, and texture using Dale Rowney Graduate oil paints. About This Painting: This piece is part of my 2025 collection, where I explore the beauty of everyday objects and natural forms. Medium: Daler Rowney Graduate oil paints Surface: Arches Huile paper measuring 20 x 20 cms. I gessoed it even though there is no need with Arches Huile as I've found it seems to be a bit less absorbent on the first layer when I do. Technique: I focus on building layers to achieve realistic depth, from the cut segments of a lemon to the pitted skin of the lime. ✨ What You’ll See in This Time Lapse: Initial blocking-in of the main shapes and shadows. Layering vibrant colours to build highlights and form. Adding fine details and textures to bring the subject to life. Whether you're an artist looking for inspiration or you just find the painting process relaxing, I hope you enjoy this creative journey!
