History repeats itself: when the Ummah was weak, divided, and corrupted, Allah raised the Murābiṭūn — a movement of scholars, warriors, and reformers who revived the Sunnah and united North Africa and Andalusia. Today’s khutba reflects on their story as a living roadmap for our time. This week’s khuṭba by Imām Isma-eel Isaacs opened with the Qur’anic reminder: “If Allah helps you, none can overcome you; but if He forsakes you, who is there that can help you after Him? In Allah, then, let the believers put their trust.” (Āl ʿImrān 3:160) The sermon traced the rise of the Murābiṭūn movement in North and West Africa — from the deserts of Mauritania and Morocco to the unity of Andalusia — as an example of how Allah revives the Ummah through sincerity, knowledge, taqwā, and sacrifice. Key lessons: Reform begins with the nafs before the battlefield. Knowledge + action + consistency build lasting revival. Unity under sincere leadership transforms weakness into strength. Today’s divisions, distractions, and corruptions mirror those of the past — and call for a return to pure tawḥīd, Qur’an, and Sunnah. The khutba concluded with a call to embody the legacy of Shaykh ʿAbdullāh ibn Yāsīn and the Murābiṭūn: begin reform in ourselves, our families, and communities, with consistency in small deeds that draw Allah’s aid.
