It is a genetic disease. It is considered as photoreceptor dystrophy. #Photoreceptors are divided into two: #RodDystrophy and #ConeDystrophy. Patients with rod dystrophy have an image like looking through a pipe we call tunnel vision. Cone dystrophy is the opposite, patients cannot see the center and see the periphery. Both are different. The clinical evaluation of the two is also different. The disease is progressive and hereditary. It is a hereditary disease because it is genetic. It leads to blindness. Until now, of course, until we conducted these studies, Retinitis Pigmentosa has been tried to be treated. These were tried to be done with different techniques in different countries. Later, it turned out that these methods did not work. In the meantime, we had started our own treatment. Our treatment, thank God, continues with great success. We do electro-acupuncture. We first have the patients undergo visual field tests and evaluate them accordingly. With electro-acupuncture, in an average of 2 months - of course, in very severe cases, it can be 4-5 months, but I want to talk more about the average - there is an incredible change in patients in a period of 2-3 months. So far, not even one of the 8-10 symptoms described about Retinitis Pigmentosa could be stopped. They were suggesting that even stopping this could be a cure. But we can reverse all the symptoms and even bring patients to excellent results. Of course, this is a matter of time. The longer the treatment is carried out, the more successful it is. But patients feel much better during 2.5 - 3 months of treatment. We also reveal this in visual field tests. So when we say these things, when we say that the patient feels better, we have absolutely objective data, not subjective data. There are very clear explanations of these. I mean, I said in my speech that patients feel good because they explain this. Actually, they feel fine, but we already explain this with the visual field tests we do very clearly. All our patients have a visual field test at the beginning. After an average of 2.5 - 3 months, we perform a second visual field test. Sometimes patients find it very sufficient for themselves or the disease is at the initial stage. But in more advanced cases, there are many complications. Of course, there may be patients with complications or patients who have had cataract surgery or laser treatment before. Considering these, it may take a little more time to reverse their diseases. So in the end, we prefer that the patients who come to us are uncomplicated cases and come without laser or any cataract surgery. But there is nothing much lost for such cases. As a result, the duration is a little longer, maybe 6 months instead of 3 months, but we can treat them with great success.
