This technique is usually used when patient is unable to bear specific cylindrical number prescribed to him. So, we change the prescription in another form. For simple transposition of the spectacle prescription you need to follow the following steps: 1. Algebrically add the sphere & cylinder to get new sphere 2. Change the sign of the cylinder to get new cylindrical number 3. Rotate the axis Rotation of axis means that you need to change axis 90° apart. If person has axis of about 90° or less in his prescription, you have to add 90°. If a person has axis of about 180° or more than 90°, you need subtract 90° to get the new axis.
