📍 Souq Sharq, one of Kuwait City’s most iconic waterfront destinations, first opened on 30 September 1998 along the Arabian Gulf Street as a hybrid of a traditional souq and modern shopping complex — combining retail outlets, restaurants, a fish market, and a yacht marina with scenic sea views. It quickly became a popular cultural and leisure spot in Kuwait. In recent years, Souq Sharq has faced a decline in foot traffic, store closures, and empty walkways, partly due to competition from newer mega-malls and lack of major renovation or modernization. The closure of key attractions, like its cinema, and reduced presence of international brands contributed to its diminishing appeal. In November 2025, the Kuwait Ministry of Finance issued an official eviction notice requiring all commercial tenants to vacate by 31 January 2026 — a move signaling the shutdown of the retail and dining sections of the complex. While the fish market and yacht marina are expected to remain operating, the main commercial wing will close to make way for potential large-scale redevelopment of the prime waterfront site. In this vlog, we explore what Souq Sharq was like, why it’s closing now, and what this means for Kuwait’s urban landscape. 👉 LIKE 👍 • COMMENT 💬 • SUBSCRIBE 🔔 for more Kuwait travel vlogs, history, culture, and local stories! #SouqSharq #KuwaitVlog #KuwaitTravel #SouqSharqHistory #KuwaitCity #Waterfront #MallClosure Souq Sharq, Souq Sharq Kuwait, Souq Sharq history, Souq Sharq closing, why is Souq Sharq closing, Souq Sharq redevelopment, Kuwait travel vlog, Kuwait City waterfront, shopping mall Kuwait, Souq Sharq 1998, Souq Sharq 2026, Kuwait vlog
