AAP Leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira Named In Drug Racket Case | BJP Wants Passport Seized

Click Here For Latest Political News & Updates ►http://bit.ly/2j4QUW3 The Punjab BJP on Sunday asked the state government to seize the passport of the Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly and AAP MLA, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, who has been summoned by a court in Fazilka in a drugs case. Times Now has accessed the call detail analysis by the special investigation team in the case which reveals that Khera was in touch with the drug racket kingpin through mobile of his personal security guard’s mobile phone. The allegation against the AAP leader is that he could be behind the drug racket. In an e-mail to Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh, state BJP vice-president Harjit Singh Grewal and state party secretary Vineet Joshi also demanded that the non-bailable warrants issued against Khaira be executed at the earliest and a lookout notice issued against the AAP leader, so that he could not flee the country. Apprehending that Khaira might flee the country in order to avoid the process of law, the BJP leaders said, "Khaira may flee abroad, so we request that his passport be seized till the proceedings are over and at the same time, a lookout notice be immediately issued against him." Khaira has, however, claimed that he is innocent and the allegations are all a part of a political vendetta. “The SIT did not find anything, my name was not mentioned in the FIR, my name was not there in the chargesheet, and no independent witness spoke out against me,” Khaira stated, that a government lawyer has filed a “bogus” petition against him. “...with a lot of shamelessness, this Congress government has tried to muffle my voice for political vendetta, and based on this petition, I have been summoned,” Khaira added. The allegations against Khaira come as a setback for the Aam Aadmi Party's anti-drugs image in Punjab, On October 31, a court in Fazilka sentenced nine persons to imprisonment in a trans-border heroin smuggling racket which surfaced in 2015. The court also issued summons to Khaira under Section 319 of the CrPC following an application from the prosecution. He has been told to appear on November 30. The nine persons were arrested on March 9, 2015, along with 2-kg heroin, 24 gold biscuits, one country-made pistol, two Pakistani SIM cards and an SUV.
