Twin Seven-Seven Ibeji Meje-Meje Artiste Bio: Circa @ 1970 Born in 1944 and christened Olaniyi Osuntoki, the artist renamed himself Twins Seven-Seven because he is the lone survivor of seven sets of twins born to his mother - an 'Abiku' who 'stayed' the seventh time after he and his twin sister were born. His career began in the 60s in Osogbo after he participated in a workshop organised by Georgina Beier. Twins Seven-Seven is a member of the famous Osogbo Art School and his works draw extensively from Yoruba mythology and culture. He is a multi-talented artist who is also recognised as a musician, actor and poet. His works have been shown in numerous exhibitions throughout the world. Twins Seven-Seven was named UNESCO Artist for Peace in 2005 in "recognition of his contribution to the promotion of dialogue and understanding among peoples, particularly in Africa and the African Diaspora."
