Taylormade Stealth vs. Stealth HD and does that red carbon face hold up to the hype! So what’s the difference between the Stealth and Stealth HD and which one is right for your game? Curated Expert Roger Flores compared them head to head and put that Carbon face everyone is talking about to the test at Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. Both these drivers have faces made from 60 layers of carbon. This produces a lighter and more flexible impact area than any before. That key factor saves weight to put in other places of the clubhead thus producing faster ballspeeds. The differences between the clubs come in the form of different shapes and orientations of the carbon face that are useful to what kind of golf swing each club is designed for. On first strike the sound and feel at impact are unlike anything else out there. The standard version Stealth model has a slightly lower profile and is very forgiving across the entire face. Golfers who tend to have a large miss right will likely continue to have the same miss just not as extreme. However, off center and center strikes are not easily distinguishable from each other. Those who enjoy hitting a draw will benefit most from this club. The club is highly workable. Which for more experienced golfers could be of benefit. The Stealth HD in contrast has a larger face profile and sits up nicely at address which inspires confidence. The HD is the most forgiving driver of the Stealth line. With a built in draw bias it strongly limits misses to the right. Strangely enough this driver is also very workable, which is rare for a draw biased driver. For golfers who miss to the left, the Standard Stealth driver would be a better choice. Distance is excellent for both drivers. Golfers with more moderate swing speeds will benefit from using the HD model and will greatly improve distance. The Standard Stealth driver tested here was a 9 degree head and an ALDILA Ascent Regular flex shaft. The Stealth HD driver tested was a 10.5 degree head and a Fujikura air speeder 45 gram regular flex shaft.
