St. Lucie Co Public Schools breaking ground making progress on future schools

As St. Lucie County's population booms, St. Lucie Public Schools is working to meet the growing needs of the community and children. They had their groundbreaking for their newest K-8 school in Tradition and have 2 other high schools currently under construction. "We are growing at about 15 hundred students annually," St. Lucie Public Schools Superintendent Jon Price said. Western Grove K-8 is expected to open in August of 2026. It will be 250 thousand square feet, have 5 buildings, and can hold 1,600 students. "We have to keep up with growth. We want all of the students and the families moving to St. Lucie County to have a first-class public education." Prince said. Legacy High School is set to open in August of 2025. "We come out every single day to look at the progress that's made. Now when I walk in here, I see students come on board, I see teachers in the classroom, I see the demonstration tables and it's coming to life," Legacy High School Principal Todd Smith said.
