Please subscribe for more useful videos about FREE Internet and WiFi Marketing http://goo.gl/uBXhYY -~- In this video, FREE WiFi Marketing will unbox, open case TP-LINK WDR6500 Ver: 5.0 and experience its original firmware In next videos, we will solder serial console and try to load it with OpenWrt and DD-WRT firmware which is not currently supported This is a dual band low price AC1300 router from TP-LINK available in China, however I managed to buy it from the country and play around with it The box is full of chinese so I expect the product is also Chinese, but I will find the way to work with it including flash it with open source Now let us see inside the box There are some documents and warranty cards, all in Chinese as expected And with this, I can see the pictures and guess Main unit looks nice with 5 detachable 5 dBi antennas The unit is solid and well built 12V - 1A power supply RJ-45 cable Now I will open the case so we can see inside router TP-LINK WDR6500 There are 2 phillip screws we can open with phillip screw driver Now I will open the latches with flat screw driver Hard part is over, now we an see in side the TL-WDR6500 router CPU is Qualcomm Atheros QCA9561-AL3A 5 antenna including 3x3 for 2.4GHz and 2x2 for 5GHz RAM chip: W9751G6KB-25 Now we will take a look at its original firmware I have to setup admin password for the first time Lucky enough, we have Google Translation to help us understand what is going on Now I can play around with the firmware, remember, I will flash my TL-WDR6500 with either OpenWrt or DD-WRT later So this is the only time you can see its original functions I donot care much about those TP-LINK features, so just navigate around Now I will see if I can flash it with OpenWrt So I access OpenWrt.org and look for Chaos Calmer 15.05.1 to find the firmware Unluckily TL-WDR6500 is not yet supported So I tried my favoris way: search google for WDR6500 and OpenWrt We found some information from wiki but only for V2 while mine is V5, no luck.
