The Hotel Brand that started it all for us, Avani, and their newest property Avani Khao Lak.

After having checked out from Phuket, we drove north and to the west to Khao Lak. Back in 2019, we took the same road out of Phuket and saw the road we took to Krabi. However, this time we were excited to try something new and different as we heard Khao Lak as becoming a more of destination for Thai people. Khao Lak is also a surf destination in Thailand, and the surfer side of me was interested to see this. The Avani brand has a special place for me and my wife as the Avani Khon Kaen & Convention Center was where we first ever met. The real start of our traveling and love to try out amazing properties started with the Avani Hua Hin. The Avani Khao Lak would be our third Avani property to visit. This property did not disappoint. We arrived and were warmly welcomed by the staff. The lobby was beautiful with a nice color scheme, open air with views of restaurant down below and gardens and greenery towards the back. We were checked in and oriented to the property. The exciting part like all big and expansive resorts was the buggy ride. We were ready to go to out rooms and the children in our party were even more ecstatic to see where we would be staying. We got on the buggies and went for a ride. As we arrived the children could no longer hold in their excitement and ran to check out the two bedroom family pool suite. Kids chose their rooms and got dressed to go swimming, one of the Avani staff assisted us with getting familiar with the remote for the TV. After we all got settled we headed to the beach to explore what activities were offered. There were quite a lot to do as there was even ping pong, stand up paddleboarding, surfing, and kayaking. Unfortunately the waves were too big and we were not allowed to enjoy the surf. The children made the most and played in the ocean and still enjoyed some of the waves. Later that night, we decided to go get some local seafood and went to a popular local place for seafood. Along the way we noticed that the Khao Lak Marathon was actually happening, We saw runners going as we left the hotel and finishing up too as we returned back. The weather looked nice and conducive as it felt nice and not too hot or humid. We went to watch movies that our daughter had picked through her Netflix account. The children picked horror and it was rather scary. We later picked a lighter scary movie of Train to Busan, a faviorite of mine and my wife. It was great and even the childrened enjoyed. Sorry, no clips of movie night. The next morning we enjoyed the extensive selection of the breakfast buffet that had both Thai, Asian and Western options. Everyone was happy as we had satisfied our hunger pains. We slowly walked back to our room and even had time to play on the playground and look around the property one last time. We packed and checked out as we still had a drive back to Phuket for our flight back to Bangkok and then Khon Kaen.
