SOAR 2022 - Round 6 and 7 Double Header!

Round 6 marked the last event of the 2022 race season and was a huge success. This last round was a double header; points were going to be crucial across both days. I also switched from Dunlop back to Pirelli; I was able to get very comfortable on them in very little time. Saturday started with AM SBK, I got the lead right off the start and defended against Zoltan as he made multiple attempts to overtake. On the very last lap, in turn 8, I made an aggressive downshift. Zoli got by but I was able to rejoin the track and finished second. As a result, we were down to a 1-point difference for the AM SBK championship. AM SSP was fairly uneventful; once again I got the lead off the start and led the entirety of the race. Sunday started with AM SSP. Having already lost this championship, I decided to not take on any more risk than necessary. I led majority of this race until the final lap catching lap traffic where Zoltan got me up the inside of turn 1. The timing of the lap traffic combined with my low risk tolerance had me finish in second. Next up was the most nerve-wracking race: AM SBK. The winner of this race would take the championship. I had a great start in this race and the pace was blistering; breaking the previous AM lap record across both SSP and SBK! Despite constant pressure, I was able to maintain the lead the entire race and take home the championship! Final results for the year have me taking first in the AM SBK and LE LWT Championship and 2nd in the AM SSP Championship. Winning the superbike championship on a 600 felt amazing, thanks to Yamaha for putting together an amazing machine. With these results, I have been bumped up to the PRO class. I am looking forward to the winter break and preparations for the 2023 season.
