➲SUBSCRIBE: https://m.youtube.com/user/amandawinn... Today we’re going to take a look at what CBD can do to help older folks out. Welcome to mom’s guide to cannabis. Today’s show is dedicated to MY mom, who pointed out that CBD can do a lot of good for those in their golden years, and for the rest of us not far behind. First a quick review- CBD is short for cannibidiol. It’s the chemical in cannabis that doesn’t have any psychoactive properties, so it may not be as much fun but it still does great stuff for your body. In clinical studies CBD has been proven to help reduce anxiety, reduce inflammation, manage pain, relieve dyskinesia(meaning involuntary shaking), get rid of nausea, and help improve your appetite. Check out our episode on some of the Benefits of CBD for more details. And that’s just the stuff they have done official clinical trials on. There are a lot more benefits to CBD that we are just beginning to study. Your body has a system for processing cannabinoids in place called the endocannabinoid system which works to sort of balance your body and keep it chugging. It manages things like body temperature, hormones, pre and post natal development, appetite, pain sensation, and even your mood and memory. When you take CBD, it activates the endocannabinoid system which in turn tries to restore balance to your body. So here’s what you need to know about using CBD- 1.) It needs to build up in your body, so you may not notice the effects for a week or two. 2.) A good starting dose for CBD gummies is 25 mg twice a day. It’s also better to take it with a little food and not on an empty stomach. If after 2 weeks, you’re not noticing any difference, you can slowly increase your dose until you get relief. 3.) It’s great for chronic conditions like arthritis. For acute conditions, I’d recommend something with a little THC in it. And finally, younger viewers you may not want to watch this part. It’s a sad fact that once you get old, pooping becomes a major preoccupation. There are CBD receptors in the bowel, so it’s been known to help with both IBS and constipation. CBD doesn’t have any bad interactions with most prescription drugs, but it’s still smart to check with your doctor first.
