Upgrade your dinner routine with this easy, authentic Shrimp Chow Mein! We start by searing juicy shrimp, then tossing them with a crunchy medley of carrots, cabbage, and aromatic garlic. Folded into tender Chow Mein noodles and finished with a savoury soy-sesame glaze, this dish is faster (and better) than takeout. Ingredients: Protein: 1/2 kg shrimp (peeled and deveined) Noodles: 1 pack Chow Mein noodles Vegetables: 2 shredded carrots, 1/4 shredded cabbage, and a handful of bean sprouts. Aromatics: 3 garlic cloves (minced) and 1 bunch of green onions. Sauce/Oil: 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp sesame oil, and olive oil for frying. Seasoning: Salt to taste. Instructions: 1. Prep the Noodles: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the Chow Mein noodles and cook for 5 minutes. Drain the noodles through colander and set aside. 2. Sear the Shrimp: Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Fry shrimp for 2 minutes per side. Season with salt, then remove from the pan and set aside. 3. Sauté the Veggie Base: In the same pan, fry the shredded carrots. Add the shredded cabbage and the white parts of the green onion (sliced vertically). Stir in the minced garlic and fry until the vegetables turn pale and tender. 4. The Grand Finale: Add the shrimp and the cooked noodles back into the pan. Toss in the bean sprouts and the chopped green tops of the green onions. Drizzle with 2 tbsp soy sauce and 1 tbsp sesame oil. Mix well using chopsticks to ensure the noodles are evenly coated and the ingredients are fully incorporated.
