Following on from the assessment 102, which forms part of the Level 1 certification, I decided to try to capture some of the essence of the assessment. It cannot be the actual assessment as examination materials cannot be publicised or shared, only recorded for the examiner/assessor. However, from memory and trying to create flow, I tried to recall the types of areas that we were being assessed on. It involved having to complete and repeat fingerspelling elements, asking questions and responding to questions to show understanding, repeating back what the teacher had done too. Receptive skills as well as Active skills. Context: I've started learning British Sign Language (BSL) and this is a level 1 course at a local college. I hope to increase my basic understanding (which was learnt many years ago as a teenager and never used) and add to my communication skills. Reasoning: I want to learn British Sign Language to increase my awareness, becomes more inclusive within my world/community and I am quite like a new challenge. Please note that I am learning and this is very early days with my practicing what I have learnt, from notes taken in class and from memory. I apologise if there is inaccuracies or the sign is wrong, I will endeavour to correct them if it is noted, or as I learn and gain a better grasp of the language. I also note that there may be regional differences and I am learning this in the south of England - Hampshire. Thanks for taking the time to view and read my BSL journey.
