Harmonic Mixing. Is it useful?

Harmonic mixing. Is it useful or not important at all? Harmonic mixing is all about taking advantage of knowing the key of the music for each song you use. This allows you to make mixes that make perfect sense musically because you can select tracks that are in the same key, or that have a key that 'works' with the key of the current song. I never talked about harmonic mixing because I don't have real harmonic mixing experience. I have mixed in key and all my music has been analyzed so I have the key info, but key still doesn't play a role when I'm selecting which track I'll play next. I have always paid attention to the 'sound' of songs and my musical sense has allowed me to be able to tell when tracks do NOT work together musically, but I do plan to start experimenting with harmonic mixing to see what kind of combinations I find when I start looking at the key of the songs I select.
