This video is about making an interface that connects the GPIB socket of the Solartron 7150+ (or any other device with an GPIB interface) to a PC using USB. NOTE: There is an update on this project, fixing a problem where the Arduino Nano could randomly loose its programming. See • GPIB-to-USB interface with Arduino Nano UP... The interface is based on a project by Rudolf Reuter and only needs an Arduino Nano 3 and a handfull of resistors. Rudi's page describing his project and links to download his software is at: http://www.rudiswiki.de/wiki/GPIBtoUS... I have modified the software slightly to add a specific command for the 7150+ and that version is at: https://github.com/TheHWcave/GPIB-to-USB In addition, I put up a little python program to log measurements from the GPIB to a file. The parts I used were: 1 x IEEE 488 24 way cable mount plug RS-Electronics stock no.: 2391207 16 x 6.2KOhm resistors 0.25W 16 x 120 Ohm resistors 0.25W 1 x Arduino Nano V3.0 Compatible- ATmega328 CH340 Chip with screw terminal UK stock, ebay seller: intime_ontime PCB connector pins, Perfboard, multicore cable, and enclosure from existing stock in parts bin Part 1 of the Solartron 7150+ repair and first tests: • Solartron 7150+ bench-top multi-meter, par...
