Saltino is a mountain village in the municipality of Reggello in the province of Florence, at an altitude of 1000 meters. It is about 37 km from the capital and about 1.5 km from the Abbey of Vallombrosa in a biogenetic reserve. It is a resort that became most famous at the beginning of the last century, when the fame of the Vallombrosa-Saltino complex reached its peak in the early 1900s with the arrival of the Sant'Ellero-Saltino railway (closed in 1924) and the construction of villas and hotels. The residential center, where today there are still residential areas and a multifunctional center of the area, is connected to the village of Vallombrosa by a road open to traffic and a footpath along the woods.
