In the 1950s, the government aimed to eliminate informal favelas and barrios by creating housing projects, or caserios, to improve living conditions.However, these areas have become hotbeds of danger and crime.Drugs, violence, and shootings are daily realities in many caserios, most controlled by gangs.One infamous neighborhood is La Perla, where a tourist was killed and others attacked for filming. I decided to visit an even more notorious place: Lloren Torres, the largest caserio in the Caribbean. Known for its drug trafficking issues, Lloren Torres has been a gang hotspot since the 1980s. Despite warnings from locals, I chose to explore Lloren Torres to see firsthand the reality of life there.
