Spartanburg South Carolina was home to just as many (or more) NASCAR legends as Charlotte back in the day! Iconic race cars were built here such as the factory Ford and Mercury teams of Bud Moore Engineering and the Dodge Daytonas of Bobby Allison and Buddy Baker. Spartanburg was the home of David Pearson, Bud Moore, Cotton Owens, Mario Rossi, Buck Baker, James Hylton, Rex White, Clements Racing, and many others who were instrumental in the early days of NASCAR racing. We meet up with local historian and author Perry Allen Wood to take us around town to see all of the forms race shops and significant locations that are still standing (and some that aren't) like the abandoned racetrack at the Piedmont Interstate Fairgrounds.
