Lighting is often a subtle addition to a space that elevates and complements; however, Est Lighting’s XAL Light Gallery Sydney Showroom instead makes it the centrepiece. As such, Henderson & Co. has created a canvas in which the lighting pieces from XAL’s collection could sit within, allowing each piece to be wholly appreciated. Sitting within a heritage building on the corner of Bourke Street and Foveaux Street, the presence of the gallery is immediately felt – its exterior façade inspires surprise and intrigue. The showroom intends to showcase the high-quality XAL lighting range as well as create various functional zones within the gallery itself. The space is similar to an art gallery combined with a high-end residential home, achieved through a minimalist setting and a restrained approach to materials. The showroom features various zones; there is a lounge that offers a calming, residential-inspired space that sits across from an island that acts as a workbench where products can be tested and explored. Another bench sits behind and doubles as a bar space for events. To the right is the Est Lighting Showroom and boardroom, with the staff kitchen, storage and bathroom at the rear. The lounge space reveals a deep consideration of lighting effects and eloquently conveys the beauty of the Est Lighting range. The immersive space features royal navy tones, silk carpet, Italian stucco on the walls, velvet curtains, black joinery and bouclé fabric on custom lounges. These textures combine to not only highlight the Est Lighting range but also create a space where one can unwind and appreciate the brand’s attention to detail and understanding of interior ambience. The showroom is also highly functional with a strong purpose to inspire collaboration and nurture productivity. A collaboration zone featuring an iron bench lies at the heart of the gallery space and is softly delineated from the boardroom with a white sheet curtain. The boardroom is grounded by a black timber table and storage with ladder access to create a space that is both functional and aesthetic. Overhead lighting products such as the XAL SPIO 60 are unobtrusive and minimalist, allowing feature lights from Christopher Boots and the XAL MOVE IT System to be championed. It can be easy to overwhelm a lighting gallery space with too many products and optics. However, Henderson & Co. draws on a considered design approach to create a warm and subtle lighting gallery that beautifully explores how one can use fewer luminaires to create exquisite, well-lit spaces. 00:00 - Introduction Sydney's Best Designer Lighting Showroom 00:32 - Behind The Showroom Design 00:56 - The Brief 01:19 - Creating A Zoned Gallery 02:10 - The Aesthetic Outcome 02:26 - The Materials Used 03:47 - The Bathroom Space 04:13 - The Lounge Space 04:35 - The Corridor Space 05:16 - Favourite Aspects of the Space For more from The Local Project: Instagram – / thelocalproject Website – https://thelocalproject.com.au/ Print Publication – https://thelocalproject.com.au/public...
