I was kindly invited along to Huddersfield Open Market to share what the market has to offer. The Market is currently under review and will be moving to a temporary location whilst major refurbishment works are undertaken so this may well be the last chance to see the market in its current form. Everyone was extremely friendly and it certainly got me into the local community spirit and made a fabulous alternative to my usual Saturdays. Huddersfield Corporation acquired the market rights from the Ramsden Estate in 1876 and then ran a competition to design a new market hall to be situated on King Street. Architect George Edmund Street judged the entries and selected a design by Charles Fowler of London. A massive thank you to Simon at Simons Pick n Mix as well as Vincent & Ivetta from Langos for being such good hosts as well as all the other market traders who were so accommodating with us and the cameras.
