Join us in this intimate conversation with Venezuelan clarinetist Carmen Borregales, creator of 12 Etudes for Clarinet in Venezuelan Style — a groundbreaking publication that combines pedagogy and cultural identity through music. This project brings together 12 Venezuelan composers, each contributing a unique study inspired by the country’s diverse rhythms — from merengue, joropo, danza, gaita de tambora, bambuco, and more. The edition, published by Keiser Productions / Southern Music, distributed by Hal Leonard, also includes a recording of the complete cycle, performed by Borregales herself. The project is further supported by her doctoral research, which documents the context of the work, its composers, repertoire, and Venezuelan musical genres. In this interview, Carmen shares insights about: 🎼 The genesis of the idea, and what inspired her to create this book ✨ The creative process behind the book and recording 🌎 The importance of contributing with new literature for clarinet 📀 Available now on Hal Leonard’s catalogue at https://www.halleonard.com/product/19... 🎧 Listen to the recording at @5183carmen on Youtube • 12 Etudes for Clarinet in Venezuelan Style 📚 Discover more Editta projects at @edita.art on IG / edittart.com
