Economics & Public Value of Forests 숲의 공익적 가치 From the air we breathe to the wood we use, the forest has always been generous. Thanks to the massive tree-planting effort made by the entire public in the 1970s and 80s, Korea’s degraded forests turned green. Then in 1998, the government’s forest policy transitioned from “tree-planting” to “forest cultivating” to enhance the efficiency of forest ecosystems. Every year on December 11th, International Mountain Day aims to increase awareness about the importance of mountains.
