Small Incision Foldable IOL Removal INTACT & Exchange

This video shows the Intraocular Lens removal and exchange of a foldable IOL through a small self sealing incision without cutting the optic. A suture is not required at the end of the procedure. This technique creates a "funnel" at the wound by internally enlarging the incision to 3.75mm whilst keeping the external measurement of the wound at 2.75mm thus the wound remains self sealing and it is not necessary to put scissors inside the eye to cut the optic. Cutting the optic can cause damage to the posterior capsule, iris and corneal endothelium. These are all protected by removing the IOL intact under visco elastic protection of the corneal endothelium.
