Calshot’s history has been long and war riddled, from formation in a storm to the development of one of the world's most famous planes. Trace the history of Calshot Spit and learn of its connections with Henry VIII and the Spitfire! Errors: Local historian: Colin van Geffen, has pointed out a few historical errors with this video, which are pointed out below: 1: Calshot Spit was a product of many years of Longshore Drift, opposed to be formed during a single storm. 2: Sunderland Hangar wasn't called that until the Millenium. 3: Calshot Castle wasn't converted into a Naval school during the Inter-War Period. 4: Calshot sent five high-speed Air Sea Rescue launches during the Dunkirk evacuations, opposed to sea-planes. Will Faulkner, producer of the video, would like to apologise for these historical errors and thank Colin for bringing these errors to his attention.
