This is my submission for Indie Film Music Contest Winter 2025. If you enjoy it, please leave a like :) How can a simple, moreover monotonous and predictable life be any good? Well, ask Walter! This goofy little guy seems to lead one and more importantly - be fulfilled with one. Or at least doesn't want to change a thing. A sense of comfort and stability contrary to uncertainty and anxiety of the new? The choice for him is obvious. However, one day, life offers Walter a small gift. Will he accept it? Reluctant to let go of his dark little bubble and life as he knows it, he tries to fight it at first, only to eventually let go and experience that sometimes, the most precious of all life's gifts, are the small things. We only have to let ourselves notice them. The moment I saw Walter, he instantly appeared to me with the sound of a bassoon and melodies as simple and as predictable as his days. To me, the dark, mildly low and warm sound of this woodwind instrument resonated with Walter's reluctance to let go of his little schemes and darkness. He seems to be scarred and annoyed with every, even the tiniest, sudden change in his life. Behind all this stubbornness I saw a pinch of anxiety that made him hold on to what's predictable for dear life. As he opens up to the new, melodies get more and more daring. More instruments seem to join - they represent all the colors Walter finds in the world and himself as he opens up to the adventure, as I believe new experiences are the best way to get to know our inner selves along the way. The subtle and delicate, light white floret of a cloud appeared to me completely opposite to the firm and goofy character, that Walter is. I saw it in glockenspiel and its siblings in flutes and harp. I wanted it to have its own unique theme. If you listen closely enough, you will hear, that in the end, the floret's theme unites with Walter's theme - showing, that even though sometimes completely different, we still can get together well, if only we use our flexibility, the power of a dialogue, trust and care for each other.
