If you ever wondered what happened to Bud Ricks, the young lad from 1964's 'Flipper', this 1995 sequel series (sometimes titled 'Flipper: The New Adventures') finds Bud all grown up and doing dolphin research in Florida. This revival ran four seasons - one more than the original - but there were a lot of changes along the way. In fact, the only featured character who made it through all four seasons was Flipper. Bud Ricks (among others) disappeared after the first season. That's when a Sea Rescue station opened up next to the institute (perhaps inspired by the success of 'Baywatch'). The show was filmed in Australia and by the final seasons only two Americans remained in the main cast. In the US it aired in syndication for two seasons, then on PAX for two more. 0:00 Season one opening titles. The show's first theme is by Cory Lerios and John D'Andrea. Watch for a young girl with three names. (All the opens run a generous 90 seconds.) 1:31 Season one end credits. This is a little hard to figure. The show is set in America, filmed in Australia, yet the closing theme is a Jamaican-style arrangement of a Scottish folk song! Actually, I kind of like it. IMDB says it's performed by Wendell Thomas. 3:01 Season two opening titles. New theme by Gary McDonald and Laurie Stone (of 'Ocean Girl' fame) used for the rest of the show's run. The three-named teen now goes by two names. Alas, her character leaves after this season. 4:30 Season four opening titles. Visuals and theme are freshened up a bit. 5:59 End credits (from season two). 7:10 Leo.
