Two Minutes of Anatomy: Ulnar Collateral Ligament AKA Medial Collateral Ligament of the Elbow Ulnar Collateral Ligament AKA Medial Collateral Ligament of the Elbow Triangular-shaped. Made of three smaller ligaments: Anterior Oblique Ligament, Posterior Oblique Ligament & Transverse Ligament (AKA Cooper's ligament). Anterior Oblique Ligament is strongest & most important medial stabilizer. Protects against excessive valgus forces. Anterior Oblique Ligament Originates from anterior inferior surface of medial epicondyle of humerus & inserts onto coronoid process of ulna. Posterior Oblique Ligament Originates from medial epicondyle, runs posteriorly to insert onto olecranon of ulna. Transverse Ligament Passes between anterior & posterior oblique ligaments, running from coronoid process & tip of olecranon. Ulnar Collateral Ligament (UCL) & Radial Collateral Ligament (RCL) Play an important role in stabilizing the joint to valgus & varus stress. Also contributes to physiologic rotational stability of elbow joint. References Elbow Trauma https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NB...
