Who watches the watchmen? 🕵️♂️👮♂️ The Metropolitan Police has officially started using Palantir’s AI software to monitor its own officers. In a move designed to "root out the rogues," the Met is deploying the same high-level data mining tech usually reserved for counter-terrorism and public surveillance to track officer sickness, overtime, and "behavioral patterns." I’ve always believed that the police are a vital, great institution. We need them to function for a healthy society. But let’s be honest: the Met has spiraled out of control. From systemic culture issues to a breakdown in public trust, something has to change. The Irony: It’s deeply ironic (and perhaps a bit of poetic justice) that the "Big Brother" tech used to monitor the public is now being turned on the monitors themselves. If the force is comfortable using these algorithms on us, they shouldn’t complain when the same lens is focused on their own desks. In this video, I’m breaking down: The £490,000 Contract: What exactly is Palantir looking for? "Automated Suspicion": Why the Police Federation is calling this a "betrayal." The Culture Crisis: Why Sir Mark Rowley thinks AI is the only way to clean up the force. The Privacy Paradox: If it’s good enough for the public, is it good enough for the police? The institution is worth saving, but only if it’s willing to be as transparent as the people it serves.
