This is a follow-up to my first video, comparing a Music Man Bongo 6, Spector Euro 6, and an Ibanez SR506: • Bass Comparison: Music Man Bongo, Spector ... I used the exact same HX presets, same mix as in the first video, EQs set flat once again. Pickups are set to bridge / middle in parallel. This gives a pretty isolated view of the sound influence of the instrument, especially on the difference (or lack thereof) between the NG and Combustion types. However, it's not at all a good indicator for how good these basses can sound! The presets were originally created with the SR; while recording for this video, I felt that the Dingwalls can sound much better with different settings. So this video is only intended to show how different they sound - others have much better demos showing the optimum sounds. Songs are from my originals band Atlas Cube (www.atlas-cube.de) - I picked sections that showcase a wide variety of sounds and techniques. Zakko Droozer has a regular grit sound with strummed high chords, syncopated riffing including legato runs, sustained low chords & a heavy slap section. Fortress of Rain features plucked arpeggios with heavy delay and low riffing with distortion. Full studio versions of the songs can be streamed for free at soundcloud: / zakko-droozer / fortress-of-rain Unfortunately I couldn't get a NG 6-string to try out. The strummed chords in Zakko and arpeggios in Fortress sound quite different on the higher register of the 5-string - needless to say, this is not part of the NG / Combustion difference… As always, let me know what you think in the comments below!
