In this video Dr O'Donovan (medical doctor) and Ella Boys (physiotherapist) guide you through 10 exercises to help with pain caused by De Quervain's tenosynovitis. Dealing with De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis? In this video, we show you the best rehab exercises to relieve pain, improve thumb and wrist movement, and support recovery — whether you're managing it conservatively or recovering after surgery. 👉 What is De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis? De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis is a painful condition where the tendons on the thumb side of your wrist become irritated or inflamed. It makes gripping, pinching, and twisting motions painful and difficult. 👉 What is De Quervain’s surgery? Surgery for De Quervain’s, known as "tendon release surgery," involves making a small cut to open the tight sheath around the affected tendons, reducing pressure and allowing smoother movement. It’s usually a quick outpatient procedure under local anesthesia. 👉 What are the treatments for De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis? Early treatments include rest, wrist/thumb splinting, anti-inflammatory medications, steroid injections, and specific rehab exercises to stretch and strengthen the tendons. Surgery is an option if non-surgical methods don't relieve the pain. In this video, we’ll guide you through De Quervain’s rehab exercises you can do safely at home to reduce pain, increase flexibility, and protect your wrist and thumb from further injury.
