I found this book in my local library when I was a teenager and it opened my eyes to a some what controversial art movement. Here, I explain what it was that interested me in a group pf artists who formed in 1848 in London. I also reflect upon this Victorian art movement from the perspective of a more mature artist, and give some thoughts about what attracts and repels in this art movement. This is done in a light and entertaining way. The book I read is Pre- Raphaelites by Andrea Rose, publisher Phaidon. Mine is the 1977 edition, later editions have a different picture on the cover but the content is unchanged. The book is available secondhand. Places where you can see the Pre-Raphaelite paintings I refer to, include: Tate Britain, London Ashmolean Museum, Oxford Birmingham City Museum & Art Gallery The Walker Gallery, Liverpool The art galleries listed own the copyright to the paintings. If you are travelling to see a particular painting, it is worth checking with the gallery that it is currently on display.
