By Soeda Azenbo 添田唖蝉坊 Sung by Toshi Tsuchitori 土取利行 "Socialist Party Trumpet Song" Note: The Socialist Party of the Meiji era was very different from what we'd conceive as a socialist party. As well, this song is not played with a trumpet typically, the title of Trumpet Song is just a style of song, with a distinctive トコトットット at the end of every stanza. Translator note 1: Machiaidjaya are places which typically the wealthy can rent for meetings. These were staffed by Geiko and Geisha, who handed out food and drinks to patrons, usually alcoholic, hence the irony pointed out in the song. In the past, some machiaidjaya hired out prostitutes. Translator note 2: Konpeitou are little star sugar candies. They're the inspiration behind Super Mario Galaxy's star crystals and if you see a picture, you'll probably recognize them.
